Hi, Anita, I am happy that you like them. Meskel is an event of Ethiopian orthodox church held in the evening on Sep. 26 every year in Ethiopia. It is believed that Queen Helena (a christian icon) had a revelation in her dream that the smoke of bonfire would tell her the location of the hidden true cross (the cross on which Jesus was crucified). The event is to commemorate the discovery of the true cross by her. Ethiopian people are generally very religious and the ritual events of Ethiopian orthodox church are always very interesting.
